Bleddyn Williams
From Ffaith
Bleddyn Williams was regarded by many as the non pareil of Centres. He captained both his club Cardiff and Wales to victory over the 1953 New Zealand All Blacks. One of eight brothers from Taffs Wells who played for Cardiff, he scored seven tries in 22 appearances for Wales. He toured Australia and New Zealand with the 1950 Lions, playing in all five Tests. Bleddyn scored 185 tries for his club during his career, a record that stood for over 40 years.
He was made an MBE in the 2005 New Year's Honours list, an award he accepted with typical modesty by saying he owed it to his team mates.
He is an inductee of the Welsh Sporting Hall of Fame.
