Brynmawr

From Ffaith

Brynmawr is the highest market town in Britain. With its highest building 1347 (source: Google Earth) feet above sea level it is 300 feet higher than Buxton, England's highest town, and 200 foot higher than Scotland's highest town Tomintoul. The area also boasts the highest golf club in Britain in the shape of the West Mon Golf Club at 1500 feet above sea level.

A pre-cursor of the NHS was started up in the town in 1851, with the establishment of the first board of health in England and Wales.

The Rubber Factory, now demolished, was the first post war building to become Grade II listed.
