Donald Davies

Donald Watts Davies CBE is a Welsh computer scientist who contributed to the technology you are using now. He was a co-inventor of packet switching, a technology that optimizes the bandwidth available in a network and increases the robustness of communication betweeen computers. So the next time you complain about how slow the internet is, just think of how much worse it would have been without Donald Davies.

Davies was born in Treorchy in the Rhondda Valley.
