Emlyn Jones

From Ffaith

Emlyn Jones was one of five Merthyr Tydfil brothers who began a famous footballing dynasty. He began his footballing career with Merthyr Town in 1933. After only six weeks he was spotted and transferred to Everton finding himself lining up playing with the likes of Dixie Dean. After his spell with the Toffees he was transferred to Southend United where he played over 500 games for the club and became a firm favourite with the fans. Emlyn finished his career at Barrow but continued playing amateur football with Shirley Town in Birmingham.
