Fred Keenor

Fred captained Cardiff City to within a whisker of the 1923-24 Football League championship, and the steered them to their first FA Cup final in the following season. City lost 1-0 to Sheffield United, but two years later the Bluebirds were back at Wembley with Keenor at the helm to defeat Arsenal 1-0 and become the first club to take the FA Cup out of England.
Cardiff born Keenor first signed as an amateur for his home team Cardiff City in 1912, eventually going on to make 436 appearances for the club in a 19-year club career. Fred also won 32 Wales caps, captaining his country in 1924. His international career coincided with a spectacular period of success for the Welsh national side. They won the Home International Championship in 1920, 1924 and 1928.
