Goal-Rush

Flint born footballer, Ian Rush, holds the post war record for goals scored in the English FA Cup. 44 in all. His five goals in three finals, two in 1986, two in 1989 and one in 1992 is also a record for goals scored by a single player in FA Cup finals. Rush, who played 73 times for Wales scoring a so-far unbeaten 28 goals, is also the all-time best goal scorer at Liverpool FC where he netted 346 goals in 658 games.

In a league (cup) of his own

Ian Rush also holds the honour of the first player ever to hold five League Cup winners medals. The prolific goal scorer shares the record of top scorer in the competition with World Cup winner Geoff Hurst. Each had netted 49 goals in their illustrious careers.
