Leanda Cave

Swansea resident Leanda Cave is a champion triathlete who took silver medals at both the Commonwealth Games and European Championships and became the first British female to take the triathlon elite world title in Mexico, 2002. Leanda has also won the Triathlon World Cup (2004), and the European under 23 championships.

Born in Louth, England and Australian raised but with a mother from Rhyl. Leanda proudly declares her nationality as Welsh. The scale of Cave's achievements were recognised by the Sports Writers' Association who named her best international newcomer in their awards in December 2002, a year in which she ended the season ranked seventh in the world, the highest ever position for a British athlete in the sport.
