Ray Reardon

From Ffaith

Ray Reardon, also jokingly known as "Dracula", was the first number one in Snooker when world rankings were introduced in 1976. He retained that position until the 1980-81 season, regaining the spot in 1982 at the age of 50 becoming the first player to recapture the top spot and the first number one after the rankings were calculated on tournaments other than the World Championship.

Ray was born in Tredegar in 1932 and was World Professional Snooker champion six times between 1970 and 1978 and remains the oldest player ever to win a ranking tournament.
